GORDY PEIFER'S
STRAIGHTLINE ADVENTURE CAMPS WITH CPG - 2005 TRIP REPORT
Gordy Peifer went big
AK style in 2005 by taking his Straighline Adventure Camp to the ultimate
proving grounds - The Chugach Range. Gordy, Jim Conway and their
group of big mountain guinnea pigs arrived in Girdwood On March 12, 2005,
just in time to catch the front end of what would prove to be an absolutely
epic weather cycle. After more than a solid week of snow in the high
country, the sun came out and stayed out.
Gordy, Jim took the
crew to hit the steeps. They worked on terrain and snow analysis,
and pushed their personal limits. In their off time, they used Alyeska
Resort as their classroom and managed to squeeze in an Avi I class in the
jumble of authentic avalanche debris. After a few days of hitting
it hard, the group was lucky enough to join CPG and Warren Miller Films
as we made our first efforts to pioneer our new terrain south of Girdwood,
near Seward, Alaska. The whole crew pulled up stakes to base out
of Seward and finished out the camp from there for the next three days.
In the end, they had first shot at some of the most incredible and scenic
heliskiing in Alaska. For info on our new terrain click HERE.
