KENT
MCBRIDE has been a full time ski and climbing guide for many
years. During the last six summers he has worked for Exum Mountain Guides
as well as for the Alpine ski guides at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. During
the last nine winters he has worked for Alaska Backcountry Adventures as
well as Valdez Heli-Ski Guides in Alaska. During the winter of 2004 Kent
was hired as head guide for the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and also became
a certified Ski Mountaineering Guide with the American Mountain Guides
Association (AMGA). Overall, guiding technical terrain is the type of work
he enjoys the most.
Much of his experience
has come from spending several winters climbing and skiing in the French
Alps, trips to Argentina, Chile, Bolivia and a successful trip with a first
ascent (22,000') in the Kun Lun Range, Tibet. In 2005, he climbed to the
Central Summit of Shishapangma with a first ski descent of the Untch coulior.
Kent has had many successful forays such as climbing Astroman and single
day ascents of El Capitan and Half Dome (all in Yosemite), the first ski
descent of the CMC route of Mt. Moran, a single day completion of the Grand
Traverse in the Teton Range and climbing and skiing Mt. Blanc in France
in a day. Last spring Kent and Doug Coombs ski guided the 4th client
down the Grand Teton.
