Cancellation Policy

We do everything we can to accommodate our guests’ needs, changes, and unforeseen mishaps. Due to the lead times required to effectively manage helicopter contracts and the costs associated with hospitality and guiding, cancellations are difficult to accommodate. For this reason, all trip deposits and payments are non-refundable.

If you do need to cancel your trip, Chugach Powder Guides requires written notice of cancellation via acknowledged email.

Weather Cancellations

Alaskan weather is notoriously variable. Poor weather-related flying conditions could limit our ability to operate and attain guarantees, whether vertical feet or flight hours. Resulting refunds or credits will be reconciled at the end of your trip.

Grouping and Weights

We ski in groups of 4 guests and 1 guide. Many groups book in multiples of four clients. For individuals and groups of three or less, we do our best to match you with riders looking for a similar experience by using information from our reservation form. If we cannot find a proper group for you, we may not take your reservation. We don’t guarantee groupings, and all groupings can change as late as the morning of a fly day.

A primary limitation of helicopters is the weight they can carry. When stating your weight at the time of booking, please provide an accurate ‘heli-weight’ (weight with your boots, outerwear, helmet, gloves, and goggles but not skis). Upon arrival, all guests will be weighed in their ski gear.

Weight Policy:

  • Individuals weighing 250lbs or more must pre-purchase an additional seat
  • Groups of 2 with an average weight of 240lbs or more, must share the cost of an additional seat
  • Groups of 3 with an average weight of 230lbs or more, must share the cost of an additional seat
  • Groups of 4 with an average weight exceeding 220lbs cannot be booked together, and if split, other group weight policies apply.
  • The cost of purchasing an empty seat is 50% of a regular seat’s cost.

After tallying weights, we reserve the right to split groups to configure the total weights appropriately.
