Snowcat Skiing Details
CPG snowcat skiing takes place on Sunnyside and Notch mountains behind Alyeska Resort. The snowcat terrain is a mix of alpine and tree skiing, with suitable terrain for advanced skiers and up. A snowcat day includes 6-8 runs, 2 guides, use of avalanche transceiver, and lunch provided.
CPG has offered cat skiing in Girdwood since 1998. For the last decade, the low elevation snow required for the cat road has become less dependable. We always work hard to make snowcat skiing happen as often as possible however is it dependent on each years snowpack. By early January we usually have an idea whether snowcat skiing will be viable or not for the season.
Snowcat skiing is primarily reserved as a backup option for our semi-private package guests. We do our best to make snowcat backup available to heli charters and heli day skiers when possible.
The price for snowcat backup for semi-private package and charter guests is 0.5 hours of flight time per group of 4 per day.
The price for a snowcat backup for heli day guests is $500 per person per day.
Standby Snowcat seats typically become available when we are able get our reserved Heli guests out in the Helicopters. If the weather is good, the chances of getting out as Snowcat Standby guest are much greater. We will contact guests from our standby list on the day of the trip between 8-9am to fill empty seats. The snowcat trip may be cancelled in the event that we have fewer than 10 participants.
Standby snowcat skiing is $500 per person per day.
A standby private snowcat for up to 12 guests is $5000 per day.
